Pet(s) and Grooming Safety


Current Vaccinations:

By signing this contract, owners verify their pets are up to date on their rabies vaccine.


Aggressive or Dangerous Pets:

Owners MUST inform CJ's Styl'n Paws if your pet(s) bite, has bitten, or is aggressive towards people, other pets or specific grooming procedures. Muzzles may be used if necessary. Muzzling will not harm your pet, the muzzling protects the pet(s) and the groomer. CJ's Styl'n Paws reserves the right to refuse/stop services for such pet(s) at any time or during the grooming process, and charge a handling fee for aggressive pets in addition to the full regular grooming charge.


Health or Medical Problems & Senior Pets:

Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for a senior pet or pet with health problems, and can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate a current one during or after the groom. Since senior pets and pets with health problems have a greater chance of injury, these pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort in styles that will not add to their stress. In the best interest of your pet(s) this contract/agreement will give CJ's Styl'n Paws permission to obtain immediate veterinary treatment for your pet(s) should be deemed necessary. We will do our best to contact you first, then take your pet to your authorized Veterinarian or to the nearest Veterinarian that is available. It is agreed that all expenses for Veterinary care will be covered by the pet's owner upon signing this contract.


Allergies and Sensitivities:

Your pet(s) safety and comfort is our primary concern. Please advise us of any allergies, sensitivities, or pre-existing medical conditions so we can avoid aggravating these situations.

CJ's Styl'n Paws understands that some dogs are extremely sensitive to certain grooming procedures such as nail trimming and/or ear cleaning. It is not our intent to cause your pet discomfort, although these are routine procedures normally performed for the well-being of the pet(s), we will not continue with any grooming procedure that will cause pain, discomfort to the pet(s) or harm the groomer. Sometimes, for a more sensitive pet, these procedures are best left to the care of a veterinarian.


Matted or Neglected Coat and Shave Downs or Custom Cuts:

All haircut prices are subject to change based on condition of coat, length of coat , custom cuts, difficulty or behavior of pet. Pets with matted coats need extra attention during their grooming sessions. Mats left in a pet's coat only grow thicker,it is very uncomfortable and can strangle the pet's skin, or eventually tear it open. Mats can be very difficult to remove, and may require the pet to be shaved down. An extra fee will be charged of $10-$30 in addition to the regular grooming fee and the pet will receive a shave down to remove the matts. If the client requests the mats to be combed out, the groomer will not do so if it causes pet undue stress or pain. Prevention is the best defense against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments and regular brushing. The groomer will be happy to show you some brushing techniques for mat prevention.


Puppy's First Haircut:

The first grooming experience for a puppy (or any age dog) requires patience and understanding. More time may be necessary to work with younger pets. Gradually adding steps to the grooming process on a regular basis will help to minimize any potential stress. Owners can help their pets accept grooming by regularly massaging the pet's paws as well as brushing & combing their coats.


Accidents:

There is always the possibility an accident could occur. Grooming equipment is sharp, even though we use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, qwicking nails, etc. In most cases this can happen when a pet is wiggling or moving around.


Parasites:

If fleas or ticks are found during the grooming process, your pet will receive a flea bath to kill the parasites and an extra charge will be applied. Ticks found will be removed as best we can and an additional charge may be applied. If ticks are found, we strongly suggest you have your pet tested for Lyme Disease or other tick borne illnesses. Please note that parasites are a health hazard to your pet as well as to humans.


Late Pick-Ups:

If unforeseen circumstances causes us to be late, we will call and make arrangements for a later discharge. Please provide us with a cell phone or home phone number where you can be reached in case we are late. Pets are expected to be picked up as scheduled. If you are late picking up your pet a $20 (per 1/2hr) late pick-up fee may be added.


No Shows & Cancellations:

No shows, and last minute cancellations (less than 24 hours notice) are subject to a fee per pet which will be added to your next appointment.

We understand that life can bring emergency situations and éunforeseen circumstances and will do our best to work with you, unless it proves to be a consistent problem.


Payment:

We accept payment in the form of cash, check, credit and e-transfer. Checks that are returned are subject to a $30 Service Fee. E-transfer must be processed before leaving. All purchases and services will have HST (13%) added to the original price.

Pictures:

Any and all pictures taken of your pet before, during and after the grooming process may be used on any sort of social media outlet. I hereby grant permission for CJ's Styl'n Paws to use my pets name or pictures for promotions, CJ's Styl'n Paws Pet Grooming facebook page, website, advertising, or portfolio images and release CJ's Styl'n Paws from any liability.


I have read and agree to the grooming policies of CJ's Styl'n Paws Pet Grooming. I acknowledge that this contract will be considered valid for both the current visit and any and all future visits until such time as I sign a new contract with CJ's Styl'n Paws Pet Grooming.
